The air in the room froze.
Ethan blinked.
“What?”
Daniel repeated it calmly.
“The estate will not be inherited by Ethan Whitmore.”
Vanessa’s mouth opened slightly.
Instead, Daniel looked directly at me.
“The sole beneficiary of Margaret Whitmore’s estate is…”
He paused.
“…Claire Whitmore.”

Ethan’s face drained of color.
“That’s impossible,” he snapped.
“I’m her son.”
Daniel calmly slid a stack of documents across the table.
“Margaret transferred all ownership into a private trust three years ago.”
Three years.

“What condition?”
Daniel read the final paragraph.
“Claire may choose to grant Ethan access to part of the estate… but only if she personally signs approval.”
The room fell silent.
