I Proposed To My Boyfriend Twice… He Still Wasn’t Sure, So I I FINALLY WALKED AWAY FOR GOOD

What if he’s just not sure about me?

I hated that thought. I pushed it away whenever it showed up, like swatting at a fly that wouldn’t die.

Instead of confronting it, I did what I always do when I’m scared.

I tried harder.

A year after that beach proposal, I started planning another one.

I know how that sounds. Some people would say, “Why would you propose again after being turned down?” But my brain wasn’t working in neat little Reddit comments. It was messy and emotional and stubborn.

I loved him. I believed we could work. And part of me thought maybe I hadn’t done it right the first time.

The first proposal had been low-key, just us, simple and intimate. Maybe he needed something a bit more special, more memorable. Maybe if he could see how serious and committed I was, he’d finally meet me there.

So I decided to step it up.

I didn’t want a huge public spectacle. That’s not me, and it’s definitely not him. But I did want something beautiful, something thought out, something that said, I know you. I see you. I choose you.

I booked this really nice botanical garden just outside the city. They had this gorgeous fountain area surrounded by roses and climbing greenery, like something out of a movie. I knew he’d love it. Adrien is obsessed with nature and plants. Our apartment looked like a jungle because of him—little pots on every windowsill, hanging planters in the kitchen. Half the time I forgot what half the plants were called and he’d lecture me like a proud plant dad.

I thought, Yeah. This is it. This is the place I’ll ask him again.

I looped in a few of our closest friends. I didn’t want a big audience, but I wanted help setting things up. Candles along the path, petals around the fountain, some soft music playing from a hidden speaker.

They loved the idea. One of my friends even said, “This is going to be legendary. He better cry.”
