A parked car can get dangerously hot much faster than many people realize.
Even when the weather outside does not feel extreme, the temperature inside a vehicle can rise quickly under direct sunlight. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a car’s interior temperature can rise almost 20°F in just the first 10 minutes.
That heat does not just make the car uncomfortable. It can also turn certain everyday items into potential hazards.
Before leaving your car parked on a hot day, here are three things you should remove.
1. Aerosol Cans

Aerosol cans include items like deodorant spray, hairspray, disinfectant spray, air freshener, and some cosmetic sprays.
These cans are pressurized. When they are exposed to high heat for too long, the pressure inside can increase. In some cases, that can cause the can to burst or explode.
